“Grey’s Anatomy” renewed for season 20

By all indications, the longest-running drama in TV history will continue to perpetuate its medical stories: ‘Greys’ Anatomy’ has been renewed for a 20th season, reported the Variety. According to the portal, the program will continue even after important departures, such as Ellen Pompeo, Meredith Gray and Kelly McCreary, who lived sister Maggie Pierce.

“Grey’s Anatomy” has been on the air since 2005, and Ellen Pompeo lived Dr. Meredith Gray throughout the show’s sprawling 19 seasons. In November of last year, however, the definitive farewell arrived, with the actress who communicated that she would now concentrate on other projects.

The vast majority of the original cast members have actually left the production over the years. Only Pompeo (Meredith), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) have so far participated in all seasons of the series.

The premiere of the second part of the 19th season took place on February 23 in the United States, with the seventh episode “I will follow the sun”, in free translation. According to the episode, the surgeon’s character’s destination is Boston. Meredith moves in with her daughter Zola (Aniela Gumbs) after receiving an offer to work with Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), another character who left the main slate to eventually appear only as a guest.

Pompeo has negotiated her appearance for just eight episodes of season 19. She has to return now in the last one and will only continue as a producer. She the actress will also continue to narrate all episodes of the 19th season and it is possible that she will continue to direct in future seasons, such as the one just announced.
