Warner Bros. has released a new poster and trailer for ‘Death of the Demon: The Ascension’, the fifth film in the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise. The preview presents the frightening demonic possession that drives a woman to try to kill her sister and her own children.

The plot revolves around two estranged sisters, played by Alyssa Sutherland (“Vikings”) and Lily Sullivan (“Mental”), who decide to get back together after a long estrangement, only to have their reunion interrupted by dangerous demonic possession. of your loved ones at risk. In addition to the new characters, the film also innovates on the original premise. Instead of taking place in a hut in the middle of the forest, this time the possessions take place in a communal apartment.

Shot in New Zealand, “Death of the Devil: Ascension” is the second feature film by Irish director Lee Cronin, personally selected by Sam Raimi, producer and creator of the franchise, after his horror debut “The Hole in the Ground” – awarded in 2019 at Fant, fantastic film festival in Bilbao, Spain, and with an approval rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just like the reboot “A Morte do Demônio” (Evil Dead), from 2013, the production will not feature the character Ash, lived by Bruce Campbell. The actor had saved the character from the original trilogy, which began in the 80s, in the series “Ash vs. Evil Dead”, but the cancellation of that attraction caused his chainsaw to be retired. But Bruce Campbell follows as one of the producers of the continuation.

Originally intended for the HBO Max platform, the film will now hit Brazilian theaters on April 20, one day before its US release.
