As revealed at last year’s D23 event, Disney Feature Animation has an original fantasy film Desire in the works, voiced by Ariana DeBose and the studio’s current lucky charm, Alan Tudyk. Chris Pine is no stranger to the realm of fantasy with the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves join them now.
Desire, according to the official blurb, is an all-new story set in the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha (DeBose), an optimist with a quick wit and a deep affection for her community, turns to heaven in times of need and makes a wish. A cosmic force responds to Asha’s call, a small sphere of unlimited energy, Star. Together they will face the most formidable of enemies to save their community and prove that when the will of a brave human being connects with the magic of the stars, wonderful things can happen…
Tudyk plays Asha’s pajama goat partner Valentino, but Pine’s role is unknown at this time. Directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn from a screenplay by Buck and Jennifer Lee, Desire will be a musical with songs by Julia Michaels. The film will be released on November 24 this year.
