Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt among Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel cast additions

With production now underway on the 2021 untitled sequel Ghostbusters: Beyond co-writer/director Gil Kenan joins the cast, with Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind aboard.

They’ll join cast members Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Celeste O’Connor in the story, which traces back to the original films’ roots in New York City and the firehouse, which we saw in one of the credit stings. Future lifewas brought back into action by Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson).

No further story details have been released yet, but the film marks a behind-the-scenes change, with the previous film’s director, Jason Reitman, once again co-writing but this time producing. Whichever title ends, the sequel will be released on December 20 of this year.
