Netflix has renewed the hit series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, and this is all we know so far.
‘Vigilante’, one of the most popular Netflix series of 2022, will have season 2. The platform confirmed it after checking its fantastic viewing numbers, and now it will go ahead, although it is unknown if it will be with the story of the Brannock couple (Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale) or if ‘Vigilante’ will become an anthology. We collect everything we know so far about its release date, cast, synopsis, and more.
The original idea is that this was a miniseries without a sequel, but, once again, Ryan Murphy (also creator of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’) hit the nail on the head with the audiences and made it a hit with the publicalong with co-creator Ian Brennan. The true story behind the ‘Vigilante’ series helped give this tale a whiff of true crime which we know wins over viewers, now hungry to know what new paths the story could take.
Following the premiere of the first season in October 2022, Here’s Everything Netflix Has Revealed Since Its Renewal.
‘Vigilante’, season 2: when does it premiere on Netflix?
Although it has been confirmed by Netflix, Season 2 of ‘Vigilante’ still does not have an official premiere date.
“The public cannot stop marathoning ‘Dahmer’ and ‘Vigilante'”said Bela Bajaria, director of global TV at Netflix, in a press release (via Variety). “The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on ‘Dahmer’ along with Eric Newman on ‘Vigilante’ are masterful storytellers who have captivated audiences around the world. The consecutive strength of these two series is due to the original and distinctive voice of Ryan who created a cultural phenomenon and we are delighted to continue telling stories in the universes of both series“.
Following the record-breaking success of DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan will create two more installments that will focus on other monstrous figures who have impacted society.

‘Vigilante’, season 2: will it be an anthology?
As we pointed out, It is still unknown if ‘Vigilante’ season 2 will follow the Brannock marriage again or if it will follow a new story with thematic connections and perhaps some repeating character. The fact that Bela Bajaria from Netflix linked the announcement of the renewal of the series with that of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, which is an anthology, makes us think that this could also be one.
After all, surely there are many more stories of families besieged by strange “watchmen” and new houses that hide secrets and mysteries that they never imagined. It would thus follow the same style as other successful series on the platform, such as ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, and other phenomena from the Ryan Murphy house such as ‘American Horror Story’..
However, the unanswered questions left by the end of the first season of ‘Vigilante’ also give rise to the fact that the second season does not change the scene. In the end, we still don’t know who the Watcher is: his identity was not revealed in the series. This is consistent with the true story on which it is based, of course, where it was never revealed who this disturbing stalker was. Will the Netflix series do it in the next few episodes?
‘Vigilante’, season 2: who will return to the cast?
It is difficult to know who would be part of the cast of season 2 of ‘Vigilante’ on Netflix, since we do not even know if it will be a new story within an anthology or if we will follow the track of the Brannock couple again. There has been no confirmation about the actors and actresses who will be joining or returning to the series..
If we recall, the first season starred Naomi Watts as Nora Brannock, Bobby Cannavale as Dean Brannock, Isabel Gravitt as Ellie Brannock, Luke David Blumm as Carter Brannock, Jennifer Coolidge as Karen Calhoun, Margo Martindale as Maureen, Richard Kind as Mitch, Mia Farrow as Pearl Winslow, Terry Kinney as Jasper Winslow, Christopher McDonald as Detective Rourke Chamberland, Joe Mantello as William “Bill” Webster, and Henry Hunter Hall as Dakota.
If it is confirmed that this will be an anthology or that there will be a change in the cast, perhaps the only character we could find again would be that of Jennifer Coolidge. And not just because the actress from ‘The White Lotus’ is the scene-stealer of the series and Ryan Murphy sure wants to keep her close to her. Also because her character, Karen, is a real estate agent who could have the potential to adapt to a new scenario in case ‘Vigilante’ becomes a trilogy. Also, after the season one finale, we know she’s alive, because she ran off on legs after a disturbing run-in with the Watcher.
At the moment, Coolidge assured that they had not called her to return: “I mean, I wonder that too. He asked if they’ll call Karen back. I’d definitely go if they offered it to me, if they asked me”said in Entertainment Weekly.
We will remain attentive to more news about season 2 of ‘Vigilante’ to include in this article. Stay tuned!
