A Xiaomi has just updated its line of entry-level mobiles with the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus models. They have appeared discreetly on the brand’s website, with features aimed at the simplest daily tasks.

In general, the two devices have practically the same characteristics. The only peculiarity of the Plus model is the presence of a biometric sensor on the back, for unlocking the system and other authentications in a more practical and secure way.

Both smartphones are equipped with a MediaTek Helio G36 processor as the main performance component. the platform it was recently introducedpromising to bring gaming features to entry-level mobile phones.

The Redmi A2 and A2 Plus devices will be sold in versions with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Internal storage is 32GB, with the option to expand up to 1TB via micro SD cards.

They still carry a 6.52-inch display with HD+ resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels. In the upper section, a drop-shaped notch is used to house the components of the front camera.

The main camera of the devices is 8 MP, accompanied by an auxiliary component just below. There’s a 5MP sensor in the front section – both sets are capable of recording at 1080p and 30fps.

The devices frame houses a 5,000mAh battery, which offers up to 19 hours of continuous video playback, according to information from Xiaomi. There’s support for 10W recharges via the Micro USB port – even with the mandatory use of USB-C knocking on the port – and a charger comes with the mobile in the box.

The mobile runs Android 12 in Go edition, aimed at devices with more basic specifications. This way, the system offers a lighter experience with fewer crashes.

Both the Redmi A2 and its Plus version will be sold in three color options: green, blue and black. The mobile phones are already listed on the official Xiaomi store, but price and availability information has not been confirmed so far.
