“Yes there could be some kind of sequel to the series. I think there is a lot of material.”
‘Succession’ actress J. Smith-Cameron has shared her hopes for a sequel series to the hit HBO Max drama.
In recent statements to Entertainment WeeklySmith-Cameron stated that her character Gerri should have her own series spin-off by the same creator, Jesse Armstrong.
“I would like to tell Jesse Armstrong to please consider a spin-off called ‘Gerri!’. Would be like ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show‘, but with Gerri,” he joked.
“No. Maybe it could be like a version of ‘Better Call Gerri’, where everything revolves around her and the different cases, I don’t know. I’m kidding“.
On the occasion of the premiere of the fourth and final season of ‘Succession’, the actress commented that there is enough material for a sequel series, even if Gerri is not included.
“I don’t think there should be a series about Gerri per se, but I do think there could be some sort of sequel to the series, with or without Gerri. I think there is a lot of material“.
Smith-Cameron, who has played Gerri Kellman, the general counsel of the media conglomerate Waystar Royco, led by Logan Roy (Brian Cox), since the series’ inception in 2018, admitted to being sad to say goodbye.
“Jesse really knows his show, and in terms of the main characters and central plot, it’s probably fitting that this is the final season.“, he continued saying.
“For all the peripheral characters and the other themes of the serieswhich are really rich and juicy, I feel like I could go on for years, because there’s so much fun stuff. Us supporting actors feel like, “Oh, okay, good, bye! Bye, everybody! It’s sad.”
Smith-Cameron hinted at what’s to come from the latest batch of chapters: “I will say that it is very interesting, it has some amazing and cool stuff in it. It’s a bumpy ride.“
The final season of ‘Succession’ has already premiered on HBO Max.
