Netflix reaches a spectacular agreement with Javier Castillo (‘The Snow Girl’)

The success of ‘La chica de nieve’ has made Netflix interested in two other projects by Javier Castillo: ‘El juego del alma’ and ‘El cuco de cristal’.

    The success of ‘The Snow Girl’ is unquestionable, so much so that Netflix has reached a spectacular agreement with Javier Castillo, its author, to adapt two other of his successful novels: ‘El juego del alma’ and ‘El cuco de cristal’.

    ‘The Game of the Soul’ is the direct sequel to ‘The Snow Girl’. Follow in Miren’s footsteps as she investigates a new case about a fifteen-year-old girl who has been crucified. The journalist, who receives the image of another gagged and handcuffed teenager, will follow the trail of the girl in the photo while she investigates the terrible crucifixion, entering a religious institution where everything is secret. She will have to decipher three questions: what happened to the young woman? Who sends the polaroid? Are both stories connected? The series is in the pre-production phase.

    ‘El cuco de cristal’, a novel published by Penguin Random House in February of this year, has sold almost 100,000 copies in Spanish in all formats in just two months. This new original story by Javier Castillo, independent of his previous trilogies, introduces us to Cora Merlo, a first-year resident doctor who suffers a sudden heart attack that forces him to undergo a heart transplant. Convalescing, the young woman is visited by a strange woman with an enigmatic offer: to spend a few days in a small inland town to learn about the life of her son, her donor.

    The phenomenon of ‘The Snow Girl’, a thriller of intrigue and disappearances where journalistic and police investigation are mixed, reached the global top 1 of the most viewed non-English-language Netflix series in its opening week and was in the Top 10 from 77 countries for several weeks, including number 1 in countries like Spain, France, Sweden or Belgium among many others.

    The plot of ‘The Snow Girl’ begins at the Three Kings Parade in Malaga in 2010. That magical moment It becomes a nightmare for the Martín family when their daughter, little Amaya, disappears in the crowd.. Miren Rojo, a devoted trainee journalist, begins an investigation parallel to that of Inspector Millán, desperate due to the lack of evidence.
