Why did Mia Wasikowska leave Hollywood from ‘Alice in Wonderland’?
In an interview with IndiWire in March 2023, Mia confessed that work, life in constant motion, being away from her friends and always being at home for a few months exhausted her and due to mental health she decided to leave from Hollywood.
So Mia stepped out of the limelight and moved to Sydney to focus on independent films, theater and a quieter life away from the dynamic she described being on the runway.
Speaking about her life with ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’ in December 2022, the actress revealed why she’s getting fewer and fewer film roles and confessed that at 33, her interests have changed.
Although she admitted that in many cases the pay is good and worth it, now she does not feel that it satisfies her and if she does not feel that a role suits her as a person and fulfills her, she prefers to turn it down. .
One of those roles was the one she did as Penelope in ‘Damsel’ in 2018, where she shared the spotlight with Robert Pattinson, who was recognized at various film festivals in Europe.
Her last film was 2023’s ‘Blueback’ with Robert Connolly and Eric Bana, and although she has no plans to retire from the industry, Mia said she aims to take everything she’s learned and become a director.
There is nothing for Mia to return to this chaotic lifestyle of moving from trailer to trailer on set. She even said that for her the ideal life would be to be able to pop in and out of Hollywood with movies from time to time.
