Crazy Casting & Retro SF: Wes Anderson Releases Asteroid City Trailer With Scarlett Johansson & Tom Hanks

How do you know Wes Anderson’s movie? With pastel colors, symmetrical composition of frames, cold humor that often hits the mark. And his castings, always more impressive from one feature to the next.

Asteroid City, due in our theaters on June 21, will be no exception, and its trailer proves it, even if not every actor and actress will be there.

Wes Anderson could make a third entry in the competition in 2021 with The French Dispatch and Moonrise Kingdom, which also opened in 2012. That won’t be the case with Asteroid City, as the lucky winner should be released in French cinemas at the same time.

But in these images we find the spirit of the Moon Kingdom, which suggests that a romance between two teenagers will be at the center of the story. Except the scout camp will be replaced by a space convention that brings together parents and children in a fictional town in the American desert in the 1950s.

Therefore, Wes Anderson will not appear in the text for this eleventh feature film, in which the usual Bill Murray, who was replaced by Steve Carell, will not appear. But this absence is compensated by the rest of the cast, absolutely insane, in this story, which seems to be so much.
