He’s one of the survivors of the Marvel era on Netflix: Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, is officially back. He has already entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the She-Hulk series.
But that’s not all, as he has the rights to direct a new series called Daredevil: Born Again, which is currently shooting eighteen episodes until mid-November. Obviously, his interpreter Charlie Cox finds his superhero costume, but not only.
Other iconic characters return in this new series, such as The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), but also Wilson Fisk alias Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), who was already in the Hawkeye series.
Good news for Daredevil fans
If fans are excited about this reunion, they’re more concerned about the tone that the new Daredevil series in Disney’s stable is setting. Daredevil is known for its dark and violent world, fans are afraid not to find that tone in the new version.
A fear shared by Vincent D’Onofrio. But the latter revealed it to him Newsweek That fans can take comfort in this aspect of Daredevil: Born Again:
“It was a concern for me because the Netflix show was so raw and brutal. But then I started looking at what Marvel was doing with their shows recently and what direction they wanted to go in. I can say if you look at the most brutal things that Marvel does — which is rare, but they’re there — they’re going to be there for us.”
Therefore, what was the essence of the Netflix series Daredevil will be presented in the series Daredevil: Born Again on Disney +. Vincent D’Onofrio promises that psychological violence and physical violence will have their place, consistent with the script and character development, in the new episodes:
“I think one of the things that fans loved about the original series was that it wasn’t just violence, that there was violence. It was shocking at times, but it was all based on emotional elements, from Charlie and myself.
They’re two very emotional characters going through their lives, so it’s all going to be answered by the fans. We’re going to bring in those elements and we’re going to have emotional abuse as well as outright physical abuse. “
The Hawkeye and She-Hulk series are available on Disney+.
