To this day, we have an email group with the entire cast, which has been around since 2010. I was happy to be able to reach everyone with the news that we had finally found a way to continue the adventure. Seeing everyone return to their roles was such a pleasure.

On a announcement to Netflix, Edgar Wright, who participated in Scott Pilgrim versus the world and will executive produce the anime, spoke about the future of live-action and how the series came to be.
Over the years, fans have asked if there would be a sequel to the film or some other type of sequel. I knew a live-action sequel was unlikely, but generally put it off suggesting that perhaps an anime adaptation would be an interesting way forward. And then, one day, Netflix reached out to ask about this very idea. But even better, our genius creator Bryan Lee O’Malley came up with a far more adventurous idea than just a direct adaptation of the original books.
