‘I thought it was stupid’: What Willem Dafoe didn’t like about Marvel’s latest Spider-Man

Willem Dafoe loves his Green Goblin character so much that he’s ready to play the bad guy again in the next film. But just because the American actor has been a die-hard Marvel fan since Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man in 2002 doesn’t mean he can’t criticize the studio’s work.

In Interview with WiredWillem Dafoe, tongue-in-cheek, has revealed he’s not really a fan of the digital rejuvenation technology used on his character in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The tech (also directed by Alfred Molina/Dr. Octopus) was intended to make him look like he did in Sam Raimi’s trilogy.

“I think there were some shots that were really blurry”67-year-old comedian says. “I thought it was stupid, because the technology of digital rejuvenation has not yet been mastered. And finally, you know what? I think that at least, I don’t think I will be that old. And that’s thanks to the creams.”

A digital rejuvenation for Willem Dafoe, increasingly used on the big and small screens, so not yet. And the actor, with a lot of humor to slip, that he doesn’t feel he necessarily has to use anyway!

Willem Dafoe fans will soon be able to find him in the credits of Wes Anderson’s new feature Asteroid City in theaters on June 21st. Crazy comedy with an XXL cast that could have done a short tour of the Cannes Film Festival before.
