The dollar falls against the real; Ptax should increase volatility

The dollar fell against the real in early trading Friday, in a session that is expected to have volatility due to the closing of the Ptax at the end of the month and quarter, as investors continued to digest the proposed new fiscal framework in Brazil and expected inflation data from the US.




As of 9:10 am (Brasilia time), the spot dollar was down 0.55%, to 5.0700 reais on sale, a move that comes after the currency has already accumulated a low of 3.63% in the last five sessions.

On the B3, at 9:10 (Brasilia time), the first dollar futures contract fell by 0.53%, to 5.0710 reais.

The day before, the dollar in sight closed the day listed at 5.0978 reais for sale, down 0.73%.

The Central Bank will hold an auction of up to 16,000 traditional foreign exchange rate swap contracts this trading session with a view to rolling over the 2 May 2023 deadline.
