The government of SP issues a public notice for the SP-Campinas passenger train

The government of São Paulo announced this Friday the publication of a public notice with the rules for companies interested in participating in the concession auction for the construction of the North Axis of the Intercidades Train (TIC), a passenger railway project that intends to connect the capital of São Paulo in Campinas.

The estimated value of the work is 12.8 billion reais, announced the Secretariat of State for Investment Partnerships (SPI). Campinas is located about 100 kilometers from São Paulo and the project claims to involve more than 15 million people in 11 municipalities.

There will be a 240 day period for submissions to be received following the announcement and the auction is scheduled for November 28th.

The São Paulo government has stated that the concession provides for the provision of three services: Line 7 – Rubi, currently operated by the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), which will undergo a road revitalization, operating between the stations of Barra Funda and Jundiaí. From there, the Intermetropolitan Train (TIM) will continue with stops in the cities of Louveira, Vinhedo and Valinhos. And the Intercidades Train (TIC), an express option, with a total route of 96 kilometers and which will last approximately 1 hour between the capital and Campinas.

According to the government, the tariff of line 7 will not change, following the tariff policy of the state. Tickets for the express train (TIC) will cost around 64 reais.
