Red Bull driver Max Verstappen dominated this Saturday’s dawn qualifying session (1st) and secured pole position in the Australian Grand Prix (GP).
The Dutchman clocked 1m16s732s to win his 22nd cap at the top of the grid, followed by Mercedes’ George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in second and third respectively.
Followed by Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
Training was also marred by the crash of Red Bull’s Sergio PĂ©rez, who had several problems in free practice. After his elimination in Q1, the Mexican will start from 20th position.
The riders are back on track this Sunday (2), at 2 am (Brasilia time). .
