Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have explained how they managed to land a star cameo in the film.
As anyone who has seen the film will already know, Bradley Cooper makes a brief appearance in a scene midway through the film as Marlamin, the ex-partner of Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez). In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterGoldstein and Daley revealed how they got the ‘A Star Is Born’ actor in the film, and it turns out that Daley has a story to tell with Cooper.
I starred with Bradley Cooper on the show ‘Kitchen Confidential’ when I was 19, and we’ve cherished each other’s careers from afar since that experience. So when this opportunity presented itself, we knew we wanted someone who would inhabit the role in a way that would bring with it this sense of seriousness and complex acting chops.
While he can’t remember exactly how Cooper’s name came to be, he soon realized he’d be the perfect fit for the cameo. “We sent him a copy of the unfinished movie and he loved it,” the director continued. “So he was ready to go on board, and it was an amazing day.”
Upon its release in theaters today on March 31, ‘Honor Among Thieves’ has received very positive reviews from fans and critics. Beyond the four stars of Fotogramas, it currently has a score of 91% in critics and 93% in audience in Rotten Tomatoes (at the time of writing this article).
Starring Chris Pine alongside Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Sophia Lillis. The film follows Edgin (Pine) and his party of adventurers as they set out to recover a lost relic. The film’s popularity at the box office has also led many to wonder if there will be a sequel to the board game-based franchise, something Daley and Goldstein are more than willing to do, according to their statements.
