Next news is the voice of one of the supporting characters in Disney’s planned live-action/CGI remake lillo and point – the alien creature Pleakley – has been found in Zach Galifianakis, now we know who will play the “Lilo” of the title. Young newcomer Maia Kealoha took over the role.
Kealoha, who has no acting credits but has appeared in the Little Miss Kona Coffee contests, will play alongside whoever is cast in human characters and lots of CG.
The original film, directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, followed Lilo, a lonely Hawaiian girl who forms a bond with an alien dog-like creature she calls Stitch. Designed to wreak havoc, Stitch changes his mind when Lilo teaches Stitch the importance of “Ohana,” the Hawaiian concept of family, and introduces him to the music of one Elvis Presley. The movie was successful enough to spawn straight-to-home entertainment sequels, a TV movie, and a TV series.
