Already brought to the screen by Andre Techine in 2014’s The Man We Love So Much, starring Guillaume Canet, Catherine Deneuve and Adele Hennel, Agnes Le Roux’s novel will soon be at the center of mini-everyone. For Agnès, which has just started filming for France 2.
Loosely adapted from the book Agnès Leroux – Investigating the disappearance of a wealthy young woman Directed by Roger-Louis Bianchini, this mini-series in 4 52-minute episodes will revisit one of the most famous Cote d’Azur miscellanies that hit the headlines in the 1970s.
René Le Roux then reigns over the Palais de la Méditerranée casino, located in Nice, which she inherited from her husband. This brash and authoritarian woman, mother of four, has been fighting for several years against the takeover of her establishment by Jean-Dominique Fratton, the sulfur owner of the neighboring casino and a friend of Mayor Jacques Médecin.
But everything fell apart when, in 1977, Agnes, his youngest daughter, with whom he was in open conflict, betrayed him by selling his shares in Fratton. Then René Le Roux lost the Palace of Medicine. And it is in this context of the “casino wars” that 29-year-old Agnes Le Roux disappears three months later.
The mother has no doubt that Maurice Agnelette, the family’s former lawyer and her daughter’s lover, killed her to take possession of her estate. Thus begins the relentless battle for the truth.
according to ParisianTout pour Agnès will star Michel Laroque, Yannick Koirat and Marie Zabukovec (Notre-Dame, la Part du feu), which will be filmed in Nice from April 3rd to June 2nd.
Directed by Vincent Garenc (Le Mensonge), the series for France 2 is written by the latter in collaboration with Nicolas Jean (Prométhée, HPI), Isabelle Dubernais (Plus belle la vie) and Olivier Alloy (Tomorrow Belongs to Us).
