The Movie Critic is expected to be Quentin Tarantino’s 10th film; Filming begins in 2023
One of the main directors of hollywood at the moment, Quentin Tarantino he always talked about how he thinks about retiring from cinemas after the tenth film, focusing more on literature.
His next film will be precisely the last feature of his career, and the project is called The Movie Critic, which may change its name in the coming months. It is worth remembering how Tarantino already have 10 movies: Rent dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction: Time of Violence (1994), jackie brown (1997), Kill Bill – Volume 1 (2003), Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), Death Proof (2007), inglourious bastards (2009), Django Unchained (2012), The eight hated (2015) and Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood (2019), but he counts Kill Bill as a work only.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via digital spy) in 2009, the filmmaker explained how he planned to retire once he turned 60, the age he reached on March 27, 2023, to “go and write novels and film literature, things like that.”
Already in conversation with deadline in 2014, during the disclosure of The eight hated, Tarantino explained how he would “write plays and books, gracefully entering my early years” after retiring from theaters in the tenth film.
“I like to leave a filmography of 10 films, so I have two more to do after that. It’s not set in stone, but that’s the plan. If I make it to ten, do a good job and don’t screw up, well, this seems like a good way to end the old career,” he said in the conversation.
If I come across a good film later on, I won’t stop doing it just because I said I wouldn’t. But 10 and that’s it, leaving them wanting more – that just feels right.
