Lilo & Stitch: The Live-Action Movie Has Found Its Cast, And We’re Already Scrambling!

You may not know, but Disney+ has been developing a live-action adaptation of Lilo and Stitch since 2018, which centers on the friendship between a little girl and an alien. The studios have just found someone to play Little Hawaii.

Her name is Maya Kealoha, she is also from Hawaii, she looks like Lilo, but she has no experience in film or television. For her very first role, she will have the difficult task of slipping into the hula hoop of a Disney heroine. She will answer to Zach Galifianakis, the only actor currently in the Dean Fleischer-Camp film. Stitch’s character will be logically rendered in computer graphics.

Lilo and Stitch, which hit our screens in 2002, was not a huge success, and is not, moreover, one of the Disney films most appreciated by the AlloCiné community (3.7/5 in its file). But over time it became a great classic of the brand with a large audience, thanks to its originality – the character of Stitch, who is evil – and his penchant for SF.

This live-action remake should logically follow the same story: how a 6-year-old girl adopts Stitch thinking he’s a dog, when he’s actually the smartest and most destructive creature ever to exist. Either way, it joins the list of movies that have been or will be adapted into live action that we’re talking about here.
