In 1979, Ridley Scott made the seminal science fiction film that is considered a true masterpiece of the seventh art: Alien, The Eighth Passenger.

Directed by Sigourney Weaver, this feature film revolutionized the genre and spawned three more opus, for which Ridley Scott entrusted his post to other famous filmmakers: James Cameron (Aliens, le retour), David Fincher (Alien 3) and Jean-Pierre. Jeunet (Foreign, Easter).

In 2012, the director took the reins of the saga by moving behind the camera on the prequel Prometheus, which traces the origin of the Xenomorph. Shortly after its release, its sequel began.

But the production is thickening. After the departure of Damon Lindelof to pursue other projects, the script passed through the hands of Jack Paglen, John Logan and Dante Harper, then Michael Green, and went through several rewrites. In terms of casting, if Michael Fassbender returns, actress Noomi Rapace is making way for Katherine Waterson.

Alien: Covenant finally saw the light of day in 2017. The story takes place 10 years after the events. PrometheusFollows the crew of a ship bound for a planet deep in our galaxy.

If the film does well at the box office—it has grossed $240 million worldwide, including $1.2 million in France—most fans are disappointed, accusing it of an unrealistic plot and big inconsistencies compared to their own world.
