‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’: post-credits scene explained What does that egg mean?

After the credits of the Mario movie we have to stay to see an appearance that will mark the sequel.

Even for a Mario fan, the Super Mario Bros movie is packed with so many references to Nintendo games that you won’t be able to find them all on a first viewing.

And if you thought Easter Eggs would end when the credits rolled, you were wrong. While the mid-credits scene is a continuation of a Bowser gag earlier in the movie, the post-credits scene is the one that will really delight fans.

But if you’re a Mario newbie or just a casual fan, you may have been confused as to why people get so excited about an egg. That’s where we come in to help, but we’ll have to get into spoiler territory to explain everything.

Look away from now on if you haven’t seen ‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’ yet.

‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’: Post-credits scene explained

The post-credits scene takes us to the Brooklyn sewers some time after the events of the climax, which showed us some parts of the Mushroom Kingdom warped in the “real world”. As we see in the scene, this included a certain white egg with green spots.

We see the egg begin to crack and hear a cute little “yoshi” shortly before the screen cuts to black. Mario fans will know that this is a preview of the arrival of the adorable green dinosaur Yoshi for the sequel, but we’ll never see what the movie version of this Yoshi looks like.

There’s a nod to Yoshi earlier in the movie when Mario, Princess Peach, and Toad travel to the Jungle Kingdom. On their journey, they see some dinosaurs running around in the wild, which is probably also a nod to Yoshi’s Island (even the Easter eggs in the movie have Easter eggs).

Fans with keen eyes will also have seen this particular egg offered as a gift by one of Bowser and Princess Peach’s wedding guests. This is how the egg ended up in the Brooklyn sewers, probably sucked into the “real world” along with everyone else.

      Yoshi

Yoshi made his Mario debut in ‘Super Mario World’ and has become a major character, appearing in various Mario games and spin-offs, such as ‘Mario Party’ and ‘Super Mario Sunshine’, as well as having his own series of games. , including ‘Yoshi’s Story’ and

      ‘Yoshi’s Crafted World’.

It was clear that Yoshi would appear in the film adaptation given how beloved he is as a character, we didn’t know when. Now Mario fans just have to hope the movie is a big enough hit to ensure a sequel is made.

The Super Mario Bros movie is now available in theaters.
