The Three Musketeers 2: What’s the Sequel Date? The first hints about who is waiting for you!

The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan just came to the big screen! But did you know that a sequel is coming out in a few months? From the beginning, The Three Musketeers was really considered a diptych, with the first episode centered around D’Artagnan (Francois Civil), in theaters yesterday, and the second centered around Millade (Eva Greene).

It is a unique experience. We shot everything at once. It’s like a big 4 hour movie. It’s extraordinary. We were transported to the story, the characters, the issues. He is very rich, every day he builds this building little by little“, explained Martin Burbulon to our microphone.

He follows: “This is a project that was always designed in two parts. That’s really the starting point that we had with the producers and the writers, the community, for the show to match the adventure that we want to offer..

This is a project that was always designed in two parts.

We would like to present this film in two parts. We also want the cinema to take back somewhere, why not, the appointment it has the right to make with the audience, just like individual series. It was very certain in our minds.”

If it is not uncommon for two parts of the same diptych to approach each other, this will not be the case here. The date chosen for the sequels to open is December 13, 2023, leaving 8 months between each.

Eva Green vs. Eric Ruff

Why is this choice? Director Martin Bourboulon answers us:We could imagine several configurations. We had to decide. It seemed to us as fair as possible. There was also a technical parameter. I have barely finished editing the 2nd film.

I still have to do all the finishing touches: sound, picture, special effects are not finished. I would not be ready to release the film. It was played three months later, or a little later. It seemed to us that the extension in December was what we wanted and not too long. You may be given time to consider the first one. This is a compromise that was made quite early on.”

It is essential for us to have a second operational period of the first part before releasing the sequel.

guest A question from our colleagues from Boxoffice ProArdavan Safai, the president of PathΓ©, also gave some clarifications regarding this strategy.

We asked ourselves how to sequence the films today so that the other one does not get less reception. When we go to the cinema to see a movie, the basis of the public who will go to see the second movie is necessarily the one who saw the first movie and no one else. So, unlike Mesrine’s two parts, released one month apart (October and November 2008, Ed.)We decided to wait until 6 months after the release of The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan in cinemas, VOD and television, on pay-per-view.

and add:As a result, we will probably expand the viewer base and start promoting the second film, or even D’Artagnan in a few days. It is essential for us to have a second operational period of the first part before releasing the sequel.

What can we expect from this sequel?

Like an episode of the series, the ending of the first part ends on a cliffhanger, and like a superhero blockbuster, the film even offers a bonus scene during the credits! Remember to stay for the credits!

Warning The suite contains spoilers for the post-credits scene

Spoiler:
This scene shows a discussion between Milady and Richelieu. The latter asks the cardinal to get rid of the musketeers…

Based on the character played by Eva Green, the film will pick up where D’Artagnan left off and focus on Millet’s story: from her past to her future and her schemes with Cardinal de Richelieu (Eric Ruff).

We met during the promotion of the first part, we asked Eva Green If only he could give us some hints about what’s next. Here’s a little teaser he gave us to avoid spoilers as much as possible!

This film is made in two parts, and really in the second part we explore more of my character, Milady, who is much more stubborn, much more of a warrior. There are real fight scenes. I had to practice a lot before that. There are absolutely amazing stuntmen. I love such physical roles and it helps me find the interior of the character. These are quite difficult roles. Obviously, I am not used to fencing and Aikido. It was a real pleasure, a real luxury.

In the second part, we really understand why Milady became Milady.

My goal was to bring humanity to the characterhe continues. In the first part she remains quite mysterious and dangerous, but in the second part we really understand why Milady became Milady. Why did she become this ruthless woman? I really enjoyed this challenge.

and to conclude:I don’t have to reveal too much, I have to remain very mysterious about this second part. The writers decided to explore Achilles’ heel. I found it very interesting; That’s what I like about this character. There are cracks in the back.”
