Brazil beats Uruguay and secures the leadership of group A in the South American sub-17

For the fifth and final round of the first phase of the U-17 South American Championship, the Brazilian team faced Uruguay, this Friday evening, at the George Capwell Stadium, in Guayaquil (EQU), and won 3-0 Forwards Rayan, from Vasco, Lorran, from Flamengo, and Matheus Reis, from Fluminense, scored the goals of the match.




Thus Brazil, which had already qualified for the final hexagon in the last round, ends this phase of the competition at the top of group A, with ten points earned in four games. The Uruguayans, however, were in fourth place, with four goals, and failed to qualify.

Now, the team coached by Phelipe Leal awaits the definition of the first opponent of the hexagonal final, which takes place this Saturday – they face third place in Group B, which could be Venezuela or Paraguay. Amarelinha’s return to the field is scheduled for next Tuesday, with no set time yet.

In addition to the Brazilian national team, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay and Venezuela have also passed. The first four South American Under 17s qualify for the World Cup in their category.

Brazil’s goal against Uruguay

After the first half in which both teams failed to score, Brazil opened the scoring in the second half. In the 20th minute, Rayan received a cross from Chermont inside the area, dominated and kicked between the legs by goalkeeper Martin Almeida, which he accepted.

In the 38th minute, Lorran received a deep pass, passed the defender, dribbled past the Uruguayan archer and only had to play into an empty net.

Finally, in the 45th minute, Ricardo Mathias made a nice pass through the Uruguayan defense and found Matheus Reis who infiltrated the centre. The number 21 also dribbled past Martin Almeida to give the final numbers to the matchup.
