Fluminense champion, Fernando Diniz reveals why he became a coach


Last Sunday Técnico led Tricolor to the Carioca Championship title

Elected best coach of the Carioca Championship, Fernando Diniz spoke at the tournament’s awards event on Monday. Champion with the Tricolor in a defeat against Flamengo, the commander spoke of the reason that made him become a football coach.




– I want to dedicate this award to my family, which is my greatest trophy. That we can improve people’s lives through football is my biggest dream. Of all the people involved in football, players deserve the most love and affection. This group that comes from most of the favelas, from inside Brazil. It’s a constant struggle for me – commented Diniz.

– What made me a coach was the suffering I had when I played, because I wasn’t seen as a person, but as someone who had to deliver something to be valued. And nobody needs it, we must be respected for who we are – he added -.

Fernando Diniz started his career as a coach at Votoraty-SP, in 2009. The coach has also worked for Botafogo-SP, Audax, Paraná, Athletico Paranaense, São Paulo, Santos and Vasco. The Flamengo defeat marked the commander’s first career title.
