The Ginga Afrotech Hub aims to bring more diversity to the startup innovation ecosystem.
On the 30th, Sebrae-SP announced the Ginga Afrotech Hub, which aims to bring more diversity to the innovation ecosystem, meet specific needs, and welcome people of color with projects and activities in the fields of technology and science. There are 130 open positions for the three programmes: Prototype, Immerse and Scientists.

According to Daiane Almeida, consultant at ABStartups, “the programs for technology projects and enterprises have been designed to serve people who today are off the radar of accelerator programs, who choose to support more mature startups”. With this, the initiative aims to increase the number of this profile of startups led by people of color.
Data from the BlackRocks Startups platform reveals that only 25.1% of entrepreneurs self-declared black or brown. “We want to impact the community, create a sense of belonging, and contribute to business growth,” says Lucas Lima, FIPT Consultant, a partner foundation of Sebrae-SP.
Program information

The 130 available vacancies are directed to the State of São Paulo. Check the details of each project:
- Ginga Prototype: focused on technology business projects in model validation and early sales phase. The program lasts six months, has 60 places and enrollments will be open until 16 April.
- Immersed Ginga: aimed at technology companies in the operational phase, ie those who already have a validated MVP (minimum viable product) and an official version of the product. The program will last seven months and has 20 places.
- Ginga scientist: His proposal is to form a community of black researchers and scientists to monitor, guide and promote deeptechs. People of color who are already or are interested in undertaking in the fields of technology, civil society organisations, investment funds and angel investors are eligible to apply. The initiative has a duration of 12 months and has 50 vacancies.
