The film, co-starring Nicholas Hoult, will hit theaters on April 14.
‘Renfield’, the new horror comedy starring Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult, is about to hit theaters. On February 14, Count Dracula will rise from his coffin to sow chaos (and laughter).
Now, to whet your appetite before being able to enjoy the film, from FOTOGRAMAS we share a clip exclusively from her Making Of. In it, we can see what was the makeup process that Cage underwent to embody the mythical vampire.
As stated christien tinsleyResponsible for the film’s makeup and special effects makeup, the first step they followed in designing the Count was the sculpting and casting of the prosthetics. “We created Dracula’s teeth and nails with 3D printers.”
As you can imagine, these types of transformations are not an easy process. Much less, something that the actor can get rid of immediately. As a result, as Tinsley claims, Cage spent around 14 hours a day in the vampire’s skin..
“He’s quite the fan and enjoyed the process because it allowed him to become the character,” Tinsley continued explaining.
For his part, Cage himself addressed the camera and shared what was his experience, embodying Dracula. “With this make-up, Christien creates a convincing result, which is real and magical at the same time.“
Without a doubt, thanks to what we have been able to see in the trailer of the film, the result is more than satisfactory. Cage’s own co-star Awkwafinawhom we have seen in other films such as ‘Oceans 8’ or ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, said so, sharing the feelings of their first meeting on set.
“The first time I saw him with everything on, I felt chills.“
‘Renfield’ will explore one of the characters from Bram Stoker’s novel, Renfield, a former lackey of the Count who is interned in an asylumdue to his delusions and hallucinations. Just a few days after its premiere, this Making Of has made us want to see the Count of Cage in action. And yours?
