The Pontiff still criticizes wars in the world
Pope Francis said at his general audience this Wednesday (12) that countries should not have bilateral relations based on force and he again criticized the widespread wars in the world.
Recalling the encyclical “Pacem in terris”, written by Saint John 23, who turned 60 on April 11, the Catholic leader once again asked for peace.
“That encyclical was a true blessing, like a serene gaze through dark clouds. His message is as timely as ever. The Pope has opened up to everyone the broad horizon that leads us to speak of peace. Political communities, such as those between every human being, must be regulated not by force of arms, but in the light of reason, in which truth, justice and industrious solidarity are found'”, he told the faithful.
Francis also said to “pray that the leaders of nations let themselves be inspired by projects and decisions” by this vision of the world.
In the final greeting, the pontiff added that “today the world is increasingly tried by wars and distances itself from God” and that “we are increasingly in need of the Father’s mercy”. Furthermore, as usual, the Pope also asked Catholics to “persevere in prayer for martyred Ukraine” and to pray “for the suffering of the population”.
Wars in the world were the theme of almost all of Francis’ celebrations during Holy Week. .
