Pope Francis appoints two bishops in Brazil


The changes take place in Cametá and Almenara

Pope Francis published this Wednesday (12) the appointment of two new bishops for the dioceses of Cametá, in Pará, and Almenara, in Minas Gerais.

For the state of Pará, the chosen one was Ivanildo Oliveira Almeida, who is of the clergy of the diocese of Imperatriz and was director general of the Institute of Higher Studies of Maranhão.

He has been a priest since 2001 and graduated in Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

As for Almenara, the candidate was José Hamilton de Castro, of the clergy of the diocese of Guaxupé, rector of the theological seminary and parochial vicar of São Sebastião e Alfenas. The religious became a priest in 1997 and has performed in various parishes and Catholic institutions in Minas Gerais.
