Meringues won 2 – 0. Benzema opened the scoring in the first half; Asensio doubles in the second half
This Wednesday, Real Madrid received Chelsea for the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League and won 2-0. Benzema opened the scoring in the first phase after a rebound generated by Vinícius Júnior, which helped Asensio to grow in the second half.
Early in the finals, Chilwell was sent off by Chelsea and further complicated the English mission, who now need to win at home by two goals difference to force extra time.
The return match between Chelsea and Real Madrid will take place next Tuesday, at 16:00 (Brasilia time), at Stamford Bridge, in London.
Real Madrid’s next match, on the other hand, is against Cadiz on Saturday, away from home, at 4 pm, for the Spanish championship. Chelsea now face Brighton, in their own domains, on Saturday at 11am for the Premier League.

The game
Real Madrid started the duel by keeping the ball more in their frontcourt, while Chelsea tried to shoot on the counterattack with speed when they had possession. Little by little the England team evolved and dominated the action during the opening minutes of the first half.
However, the meringues pressed more in the first half, so much so that Benzema opened the scoring in the 21st minute after a submission by Vinícius Jr. defended by Kepa.
After the first goal, both teams had good chances to score and the game was very fast paced. Even so, the match went into half-time still 1-0 in favor of Real Madrid.
The second half started with a nightmare for Chelsea. Full-back Chilwell fouled to stop a counter-attack led by Rodrygo and was sent off straight. With one down, the English side were under even more pressure from Madrid, who calmly controlled the finals.
Shortly after coming on, Marco Asensio kicked low from Kepa’s corner and extended the score until the 28th minute, with an assist from Vinícius Júnior.
Madrid tried to create chances in the final stretch to stretch their lead even further, but the match ended 2-0 for the Spaniards.
