The Zurich Film Festival will release a new industry curriculum called the ZFF Summit Climber for its 2022 event to provide newcomers to the film industry with hands-on knowledge and training on how to successfully finance, produce and distribute Hollywood films.
The ZFF Summit Climber will fund eight young industry talent in a three-day training program during the 18th Zurich Film Festival and industry-focused Zurich Summit September 23-26. They will be mentored by transatlantic industry veterans, including Zurich Summit regulars Alana Mayo, president of Orion Pictures, Neon CEO Tom Quinn and CAA Media Finance co-CEO Rog Sutherland.
“As part of our new development program, young participants are learning about Hollywood’s best offerings in this area,” said Reta Gutt, director of industry at the Zurich Film Festival.
The Zurich Film Festival said the main focus of the New Talent Development Program will be on film financing and packaging, covering topics such as preparing film packages, establishing transatlantic funding structures and cooperation guidelines. Entrants must be junior executives with at least two years of professional experience in sales and acquisitions and need at least one professional reference. Applications for the program can be made online until August 15th.
“ZFF has been committed to promoting young talent since its inception. “Whether it’s ZFF Academy or ZFF for kids, they all end with one thing: getting people excited about films and their creations,” said Christian Jungen, artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival. “The program opens the gaps in the distribution and financing sector for young talent. In line with our festival strategy, we also rely on the boutique concept and our excellent relationship with the North American film market.”
The ZFF Summit Climber program is organized in association with the International Screen Institute, a non-profit group that provides training to European and international film and television creatives and executives.
