Chance of heavy rain and hail
Instabilities continue to affect from the lowest to the highest levels of the atmosphere. The advance of a cold front and a low pressure system moving over the continent contributes to the increase in rainfall in south-central Brazil.

The south of Mato Grosso do Sul and the west of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul are on alert for thunderstorms with heavy rain and risk of lightning this Thursday (13). There is also an indication of hail in western Paraná and southern Mato Grosso territory, as shown in the image below:

In eastern Paraná and north-central Santa Catarina, rain showers occur more isolated during this Thursday (13).
In central-southern Rio Grande do Sul it rains at any time of day and intensely. Precipitation volumes could be considerable. In the north of Rio Grande do Sul and in the mountainous region, heavy clouds cause heavy rain showers between the afternoon and evening.
The tendency is for the rains to strengthen even more on Friday (14) and for the storms to spread over these areas with the advance of these systems over central-southern Brazil.
