The new reality show with Xuxa and Ikaro Kado is ‘an invitation to get to know Brazilian culture through a drag look’

‘Caravana das Drags’ travels around Brazil and the participants face challenges inspired by the traditions of each city; the competition jury has names like Lázaro Ramos, Daniela Mercury and others

Among many projects such as the cruise and a documentary about his life, Xuxa debuts another novelty this Friday the 14th: the caravan of dragons. The reality show of First video brings the queen of the little ones with one of the biggest names in drag art in the country, Ikarō Kadoshiresponsible for the competition for the title of “Sovereign of the Caravan”.

In an interview with StadiumXuxa revealed that her relationship with this universe was developing as her audience grew: “I started working for children and, over time, I watched them grow. I want, ‘believe in your dreams’, and I could to see that these adults felt that, close to me, they could let themselves go”.

“I started seeing my audience, people close to me, transform from boys to girls, girls to boys, or become these drag artists, who were fathers with children, but who, at night, turn into drag,” has explained. .

So when she went to see RuPaul’s Drag Racedecided to develop a project for the Rede Globe which he denied at the time. “I had already saved this project from Globo, but there I only got no”.

In caravan of dragonsXuxa and Ikaro travel through different Brazilian cities in a decorated bus and the participants are faced with different challenges inspired by the cultural traditions of each city the caravan passes through.

“This program is an invitation to enter our world, but above all to know or recognize Brazilian culture and Brazil through the eyes of the drag queen (…) This reality concerns human beings, more than art and culture , it’s about the experiences of these human beings and how Brazil is so rich in every state,” reflects Ikaro.

The contest still has a panel of judges made up of the presenters and special guests. At the end of each episode, one drag is eliminated until no finalists remain. Furthermore Nicole Bahls that is, in the first episode, the jury will be composed of Ingrid Guimarães, Mateus Carrilho, Lellê, Daniela Mercury, Juliette, Fabiana Karla, Lázaro Ramos, Fafá de Belém and Gretchen.

“Drag art has the power to bewitch, playful and carry messages in ways that people don’t even realize they are digesting these messages (…) I’m living a dream. I never imagined I’d see my drag and my country to be represented in this way, I am fulfilling my dream of immortalizing the art that got me where I am,” concluded Ikaro.
