While Sam Raimi plans to make the fourth installment of Spider-Man, after his successful trilogy, Sony has canceled the project in favor of a reboot. Many actors are participating to interpret the title role, including Jamie Bell, Josh Hutcherson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson or Logan Lerman.
In July 2011, a stranger dressed in Spider-Man cosplay spoke at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. At the end of the speech, he takes off his mask and declares his love for the Peter Parker character who gave it to him “survived”. This man is Andrew Garfield. His choice, as well as Marc Webb’s directorship, has been disputed by some fans who were still hoping for the return of Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi.
However, Andrew Garfield proves himself. 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, which chronicles the genesis of the superhero, was a success, grossing $757 million worldwide on a $230 million budget.
