WhatsApp launches three features against account theft; I wait

Device verification and other security features were released this Thursday

OR Whatsapp announces this Thursday 13, three new features that bring more security to the application and protect the user from account theft. The novelty has already been implemented by Meta, the owner of the messenger, and does not require activation by the user.

The first novelty is account protection: through it, the user will receive a notification when the device is changed, asking for confirmation of the new registration on the old device. “This feature can warn you of an unauthorized attempt to transfer your account to another device,” she says.

In addition, WhatsApp will start scanning devices for malicious digital agents (malware) that may try to enter and take over accounts (ACT, in the acronym in English). Automatically, the application will generate unique access codes to prevent third parties from contaminating your device.

Finally, the messenger offers the “essential transparency” feature, which automatically verifies that a connection is secure and end-to-end encrypted.

According to WhatsApp, the advantage of these new functions is that the user does not need to change any settings. However, the company points out that, proactively, the user can increase two-factor authentication and make periodic backups.
