Towards the Stars, Franklin (JK Simmons) and Irene (Sisi Spacek) are an older couple who have settled into a beautiful home near the small town of Illinois. Irene, a retired English teacher, does not allow her health to affect her good mood, and Franklin loves to take care of her. They are gentle, accomplices. Sometimes Franklin curses. Irene corrects her grammar again. And when he smiles.
In the evening they have a strange habit. They will “see the stars.” So Franklin pushes Irene into a wheelchair, taking her to the end of the garden in a sort of shed. Inside the staircase goes into an underground tunnel. Franklin takes the heavy metal door. From there, the light in the domed room shines and they are transported into a room with two chairs, a table and an unobstructed view of the nameless planet.

The sequel includes a neighbor who is a little too curious, a son who died very soon, a worried grandson, and a mysterious stranger who came from this “star room”.
In the next episode, we meet new characters, mother Stella (Julietta Zilberberg) and her daughter Tony (Rocio Hernandez), who live almost as hermits in Argentina. And their fate, one way or another, is related to Irene and Frank.
As the series progresses, at its own pace, Towards the Stars takes shape as a secret box depicted against the backdrop of a romantic drama. Do not expect the series to intensify as it keeps pace with its characters. But we are chained to each scene starring Sisi Spacek and J.K. Simmons, two star actors.
