According to the current government, 83 pieces of furniture are missing from the Alvorada Palace
Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro gave her version of the disappearance of furniture from the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the presidency, in videos posted on her Instagram on Sunday evening, 18. She took the opportunity to criticize President Luiz’s spending Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and first lady Janja, without naming names.
Michelle says the furniture removed from Alvorada by her and former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) came from the Rio de Janeiro home where the family lived before the presidency. She says she was told by Marcela Temes, also a former first lady, about the possibility of using furniture from her home in the club after her husband won the election. The request to bring the decoration of the living room and bedrooms to Brasilia would have come from Laura, the couple’s daughter.
“I spent six months sleeping in Alvorada’s bed, a bed that other presidents certainly used. In the second half of 2019, my move came, at the request of my daughter Laura ”, says Michelle, who subsequently published photos of her table, sofa and magazine rack in Rio de Janeiro records and, also, currently in use.

Therefore, former first lady says furniture that was in Alvorada was sent to Warehouse 5 or Presidency Warehouse – where there are options for furniture and decoration that can be used in the palace.
However, Secom (Secretary for Social Communication of the Presidency) points out that, according to the curatorship of the official residences, 83 pieces of furniture from the Palácio da Alvorada have not yet been identified, having been missing since January. The information comes from Poder 360.
‘I suggest the CPI of Alvorada furniture’
Without naming names, the former first lady pushes Lula and Janja about spending on Palazzo Alvorada: “The furniture is there. Only, unfortunately, those who preach humility, simplicity, do not want to live in the simple, mocking and playing with taxpayers’ money”. Finally, Michelle Bolsonaro mocked by calling for a “CPI on Alvorada furniture.”
Lula’s government spent around BRL 196,000 on the purchase of a bed, two sofas, two armchairs and a king-size mattress for the Alvorada Palaceaccording to data obtained by Folha de S. Paulo through the Law on Access to Information, in April.
“The absence of furniture and the poor state of maintenance found in the Alvorada furniture required the acquisition of some elements. The furniture purchased is now part of the Union’s heritage and will be used by future heads of state residing there”, he informed Secom, in note.
In January, President Lula was unable to move to the Palace due to the situation of the residence, left by former President Jair Bolsonaro. The change only took place on February 6, after the venue was refurbished.
OR Earth he asked for updates on the missing furniture and the Lula government’s spending on the furniture at the Alvorada Palace but, until this article’s latest update, has not received a response.
