Netizens Discover There Is Live Action ‘Mario Bros’ And Here’s Their Reaction: Is It Good Or Bad?

In a few weeks “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” became one of the most successful animated films of all time, grossing millions of dollars worldwide.

What is the 90s movie ‘Super Mario Bros.’ about?

Despite what many would have you believe, this is not the only film based on the mustachioed plumber, as there was a live action version in 1993 starring bob hoskins and John Leguizamo called “Super Mario Bros.”, which, although heavily criticized at the time, is now considered a classic that started the combination of the video game and film industries.

The plot is essentially the same since it tells the story of Mario and Luigui, the limero brothers who arrive in a strange mushroom kingdom to save a princess named Daisy from an evil reptile known as King Koopa.

Although the settings and characters changed their appearance in a radical way, the special effects tried to preserve the essence of the characters. For example, King Koopa here is not the shell-breathing dragon, but is depicted as a rich, germaphobic politician who tries to merge his dimension with the human world, but does not let go of his evil.

One positive point is that the leads have good chemistry and tell various jokes throughout the film which makes it very entertaining.

30 years after its premiere, people remember it and apparently it drove thousands of internet users crazy, who didn’t know that something like this was created in the 90s with Nintendo’s license.

Various publications expressed genuine surprise at the footage and expressed that despite how “weird” it might seem, they would still see it since it officially counts as Mario’s first film.

On both Reddit and Twitter, people have already started voicing their opinion, and the most recurring one is that despite not being a carbon copy of the video game, its proposal is unique, giving it a stamp of approval.

Others were simply horrified by what they saw and advised others not to play it, as it is quite far from what the Mario franchise is known for.

With fans divided, the only way to know if the tape is good or bad is to see it for yourself with an open mind and bearing in mind that the quality of the special effects wasn’t the best, which can make anything look very fake.
