The Boca Juniors player is tried for assaulting his ex-wife

The trial against the athlete will take place this week in the Argentine justice system

Boca Juniors striker Sebastian Villa is accused of gender-based violence by his ex-wife. Daniela Cortés accuses the athlete of having beaten her one night in April 2020, indoors. The girl recorded the images of the attack on social networks, the next day she filed a complaint against the athlete.

The trial is under the responsibility of Judge Claudia Dávalos and the program begins to take place between Monday and Wednesday of this week. The auditions will take place in person, which has kept the Colombian athlete away from training in the Argentine club. The trial will not be televised.

Even with the absence and with the controversies experienced off the field, Villa continues to be a fundamental element for Boca Juniors. The team’s coach, Jorge Amor Ameal, is expected to select the striker to start the club’s next match, which takes place this Tuesday, against Deportivo Pereira, for the Libertadores second round.

The La Boca neighborhood club has little position on the controversy, especially since it happened so long ago. At the time, the board even removed the Colombian from the team’s activities, but he was quickly rejoined to the team’s plans.

According to what was released by the Argentine justice, Villa will be tried for the crimes of “mild injuries doubly qualified by relationship and mediation of gender violence”. In this way, if found guilty, the aggressor could pay up to six years in prison.
