WhatsApp is the main communication channel for 86% of companies in Brazil


The Sales Panorama survey reveals that WhatsApp has become the most used tool by sales teams for 86% of respondents.

According to the Sales Panorama survey, developed by RD Station, the Whatsapp it has become the most used tool by sales teams for 86% of participants, compared to 82% in the last edition. The survey listened to more than 1,700 companies of different sizes, sectors and regions in Brazil.

For Gustavo Broilo, Sales Director of RD Station, in such a dynamic era, conversational marketing is gaining more and more importance in the communication strategies of companies:

“With so many options at their fingertips, it’s important for businesses to understand which channels make the most sense for the prospects you’re working on. Have an understanding of which channel works best for your client based on the company’s maturity can significantly speed up the negotiation phase,” says Broilo.

These data can be confirmed by a study conducted by the Internet Management Committee in Brazil (CGI.br), which revealed that the WhatsApp has surpassed Facebook as the main social network for e-commerce. The survey of ICT companies included information obtained between 2019 and 2021.

And this trend is not unique to Brazil, as the Business Messaging Research Study, conducted by Facebookreveals that 75% of adults surveyed say they want to communicate with brands the same way they talk to friends and family – through text and voice messages.

Data management and CRM

A relevant point from the survey showed that only 21% of participating businesses have WhatsApp integrated with their sales CRM. Which means nearly 80% either lack a well-structured process for logging this information, or only log what they find relevant in the CRM.

According to the expert, for good data management, it is essential that adequate tools are used to document these interactions, with the aim of “ensuring and identifying that sales processes are followed, as well as avoiding the loss of history if a seller leaves the company”. .

Increased membership in WhatsApp Professional

An internal survey by RD Station of around 40,000 companies showed a 43% increase in the number of accounts using the WhatsApp Button and a 90% growth in the use of the WhatsApp CRM extension between the years 2021 and 2022 .

The results of this membership have been positive, as conversions grew by nearly 70% and closed sales increased by 40% over the same period. The Business version of WhatsApp was also highlighted in the survey, where 78% of participants said they use the professional version of the tool.

“Our investigations highlight the importance and the search for some optimizations and automations deriving from the professional service. There are various technological solutions, from the simplest and freest ones to the use of chatbots, which centralize the service channels, depending on the stage of maturity of the company. in addition to technology, it is essential to have well-defined processes and a standard that everyone who works in the commercial team must adhere to”, concludes Broilo.
