Life is far from a long calm river, for Nordin (Youssef Agal), tomorrow belongs to us.
During the Cannes festival, he met Youssef Agal, Nordin Becker’s translator, confided in Alocine about the future of his character, his love affair with Manon (Louise Bachelier) and also his relationship with Martin (Frank Monsin).
Allociné: What is your favorite storyline since coming to the series?
Yusef Agal : Last Summer’s Ark with Manon and Nordin’s love story. Between the meeting, development, and all the adventures, it still lasted three months. It took a while to do and it was cool. There was a lot to play for. It was also nice to meet Luvia. It made a good couple and Nordin sat with the downers (laughs). This plot was definitely my favorite.
Nordin is currently at the center of the dramatic arc surrounding Martin’s choice. A chance to learn more about your character’s past. What do you remember about this intrigue?
In terms of filming, it was fascinating. It was cool ! with Frank MonsignyMartin Constant’s translator, we noted a little earlier and said to ourselves “It will be cool. It’s up to us to shine!“. It was a pretty short shoot, but very interesting. There were some great scenes. We went up against each other in a lot of ways. We saw Nordin in situations that we didn’t know about him. He really came back. The wall.
We just saw Manon kidnapped by Jules, and we didn’t know Nordin so intense and nervous. He comes out of coma, he is injured. Obviously, this arch was fu. The game was very interesting. It was intense because I was touring regularly, but for an actor it’s just happiness.
Martin shot Jules to protect his son. An act that makes him feel guilty. What role will Nordin play?
Nordin will play the role of the son. He will be by his father’s side and support him. As an employee and as a good son. It will do the job as usual. Nordin is also very involved in Martin’s love life. So it’s a great way to give back.
I imagine this story will strengthen the bonds between Martin and Nordin…
absolutely ! We play more and more with Frank. What you need to know is that Frank is one of the first people to take me under his wing when I came into the series. I remember him telling me “I am waiting for you in the dining room” (laughs). I came and we started talking. I said: “If you have any problems or any questions, don’t hesitate“.
He still plays this role for me and I thank him very much. He is a golden boy. I learn a lot with him. I was very lucky to be in the comedy team. I’m not bashing the other sets and the other families in Tomorrow Belongs To Us, but obviously it’s the best team (laughs). Frank is my father in the story, but he is my big brother in real life and I love him very much.
This ark was an opportunity to meet Miriam, Nordin’s mother. Selma Couch Will he stay in the series?
I hope. Unfortunately, I don’t have much visibility on that, but I’m pretty sure yes. Selma Cooch is a wonderful, sensitive and very talented woman. We hit it off right away. I remember the first scene I had with him was at Daniel’s house. We had a very good feeling. I’m sure it will come back. Everyone is interested in Nordin Becker’s past. We want to know. who is his mother In what context did you grow up? Who is his stepfather? We talk a little about him, but we don’t know him. So yes, I’m sure he’ll come back and take his place in the series. I hope so anyway.
Can we hope that one day the land of Nordin’s father will belong to us tomorrow?
I don’t have much information, but I really want it. When Nordin comes out of his coma, he immediately asks for news about his father. You get the sense that she is someone who is important to her, even if she is very attached to Martin. But the man who has had a fatherly role with Nordin all these years and who has shaped him as a person, this is him, and that’s why we want to see him.
On the heart side, Nordin lives a wonderful love story with Manon. What awaits this couple? Are they planning to move in together?
Why not. And I’ll give a shout out to all the screenwriters, especially Navel Dib, who I give a huge kiss to. We don’t have visibility of that. It must be said that we are coming out of a plane crash, a coma, and there we are in the middle of hostages, so we will chill a little. We’re going to have little Netflix nights, eat ice cream, order sushi, and work at the police station during the week (laughs). But let’s hope they move in together. There we know that Audrey (Charlotte Gacchio) proposed to Damien (Adrien Robb). So why not a wedding for Manon and Nordin too. Maybe a child or why not cohabitation with the poor. I do not know.
Manon has just arrived at the police station. It is often said that working as a couple can cause problems. Is tension expected between them?
We really want to (laughs). Because it’s so beautiful, the couple is all cute and nice and we enjoy doing it, but a little tension can’t be a bad thing. I think Manon is much more talented than her boyfriend. He has an instinct. He’s a really good cop. So I think a little bit of ego and jealousy comes into play.
Martin and Raphael (Jennifer Lorre) is closing recently. With Nordin being so present with her father, does it push her to get closer to Rafael?
absolutely ! I’ll be in cash, Nordin wants Martin to pour the biscuit (laughs). Nordine is very involved. He wants to be the conclusion. So, Martin Constant, if you hear me, go for it! Because here Martin is playing in a leather jacket and tattoos, like I’m not making the first move, but he’s in love. Nordine will be more involved and I’m sure it will be.
In general, what awaits Nordin in the next episodes?
I do not know. Pretty vague to me, but that’s okay. I’m hoping for a lot of action and scenes with other comics. I’m also hoping for scenes with the villains. Maybe Nordin will stop house-sitting them or pay the rent. It wouldn’t be bad (laughs). We often argue about this with Kamel Belghazi. In any case, Nordine became a pillar of the Sète police department. I have no doubt that his future will be bright.
Do you have any other projects outside of the show that you can talk about?
I’m in the Cannes Confidential series, which is currently featured in the Canneséries. I don’t have a big role, but I’m there. I am very happy to have participated in this adventure. In addition, I have my short film Tariq, which is alive at festivals at the moment. He recently won a prize in Paris. I am very proud of it.
