The KION online cinema announced the exclusive premiere of the fantasy thriller The Dollmaker directed by Roman Amsler, which brought to life children’s horror stories with abandoned houses and an evil spirit luring people into its lair. The main roles in the tape were played by Maria Mironova, as well as young stars of “House Arrest” and “Pishcheblok” – Vitaly Kornienko and Alexander Novikov. The picture will be shown on the service on April 22.

The plot of the film takes place in the 1990s. 13-year-old Sonya, together with her mother and younger sister Anya, moves from the city to the village. The eldest does not like such changes at all, but they are needed to maintain Anya’s health. Sonya is not immediately accepted by local teenagers, they call them “city” names and throw her skateboard into the territory of an abandoned house. It is there, according to legend, that the Dollmaker lives, stealing children. When he was a child, he too was bullied and ridiculed because of his physical differences. The boy found salvation from loneliness in the puppet theater, and now his mirror-eyed dolls are luring children to his house. Anya falls under the influence of a mystical creature, and only Sonya can save her sister…

“The Dollmaker” is the author’s retrospective reflection on the modern world, where phones are becoming the main friends of children. In the tape, they are replaced by decoy dolls, a classic metaphor for a person. The film was produced by the Film Studio. M.
