‘Drake & Josh’ (2004) is one of the most successful series of the 2000s and is fondly remembered by fans to this day, although much of its popularity is due to the chemistry between its leads Drake Bell and Josh Peck.
With four seasons and one movie, the show about the two inseparable brothers introduced many to Drake and Josh, although it was the former who achieved the greatest fame thanks to his role as a singer.
However, by the end of the sitcom these ‘Nickelodeon kids’ have grown up, gone their separate ways and what was supposed to be an off-screen friendship turned out to be the opposite.
“Drake & Josh”: why did the actors stop being friends?
In 2007, “Drake & Josh” ended and it was obvious that the relationship between the actors was never as close as that of their counterparts in the series, as they had several arguments and made statements against each other.
In 2017 Josh Peck married Paige O’Brien, and by not inviting Drake Bell, fans claimed it showed they were never really friends. Even Drake tweeted about it.
Josh Peck talked about it in March 2022 on his ‘BFFs’ podcast and said that he thought things were over the top because since he wasn’t that close, he hadn’t seen Drake in a decade and he didn’t think that if if she didn’t invite him he would get mad. the Internet.
Although it later appeared that they smoothed over the rough edges by uploading a photo on Josh’s Instagram where they are seen hugging each other, their ‘feud’ did not end there and Drake Bell himself assured that they did indeed see each other many times and even and Josh went home.
Even Drake Bell accused Josh Peck of being racist and said that’s why he refused to do a project in 2019 trying to revive the famous Nickelodeon series.
He was on the ‘Drake & Janet’ podcast, which he did with his wife Janet Von Schmeling, where he revealed that the reboot was written by Josh, but there were a lot of things that didn’t feel right to him.
The singer and actor commented that the script portrayed Mexicans in a derogatory way, as there were constant racist and xenophobic jokes. Even though Drake asked Josh to change these things, the former actor refused.
