It’s a 90s action movie classic that’s coming back as a TV remake! The series True Lies: For Better and For Worse, now available on Disney +, is indeed inspired by the James Cameron feature film, itself adapted from the French comedy La Totale! Directed by Claude Zid.
James Cameron’s version of True Lies follows the story of Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a seemingly normal office worker. However, this is a cover, as the latter is actually a secret agent working for the American government. His family is unaware of the situation, starting with his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis), who dreams of a less planned life…
Conceived by screenwriter Matt Nix (Burn Notice), the series True Lies: For Better and For Worse borrows the same premise. Harry Tasker is now being cast by Steve Howe (Shameless) and his wife Helen is played by Ginger Gonzaga (She-Hulk: The Lawyer).
Note that Tom Arnold, who played one of the main roles in the film, also looks stunning in this remake, but in the skin of a different character.
In True Lies, Tom Arnold played Gibb, Harry Tasker’s teammate.
Although the series arrives in France this Wednesday, April 19, its airing on CBS in the United States on March 1 did not meet with the expected enthusiasm, with the series receiving mixed reviews.
“Not bad, but nothing new” For our colleagues varietyor “without identity” for that ColliderThe series is still appreciated by editors for its entertainment aspect TV Guide Magazine.
While no decision has been made on Season 2, True Lies is now available exclusively on Disney+!
