What if rainbows were actually time travelers? This is the initial premise of Arco, the new animated feature from director Hugo Bienvenue. Based on the success of its previews at the Cannes and Annecy festivals, this beautiful sci-fi drama has ended up with a feature film Crystal at FIFA 2025.
In a dystopian future where natural disasters are constantly occurring, 10-year-old Arco, who can travel through time, goes missing in 2075 near Iris’s home. Then the young girl undertakes to help him return home. However, a trio of thugs, fascinated by supernatural phenomena, may foil their plan.
The Animation Prize was awarded in Annecy
A product of the memory and know-how of MountainA studios, Arco is as well-made as it is beautiful to look at. With a wide range of settings, the film takes you as much through lush forests as it does through enchanting skies and high-tech houses.
With very good and unique 2D, we are easily captivated by the colorful and dynamic world of Hugo Bienvenu and his team. The adventures of our young heroes and the futuristic context provide an excuse to create a range of characters and locations, enhanced by the talents of our French animators. Produced by actress Natalie Portman.

A universal story for the whole family
Associated several times with Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece ET for its atypical friendship between characters from two different worlds, and with Hayao Miyazaki’s various Ghibli films for its environmental themes, Arco has entertaining art with a strong and relevant message.
This moving fable, which will appeal to audiences of all ages, subtly encourages us to maintain hope even when the future looks bleak. Its intergenerational story, full of laughter and tears, is a must-see this fall, on the big screen and with the family.
