an adaptation of Dusk for the TV series format is in early development by Lionsgate TV. Stephenie Meyer’s literary saga was previously adapted into a film franchise which became a worldwide phenomenon between 2008 and 2012.
The information was revealed by The Hollywood Reporterwhich revealed that Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig are the executive producers involved and Sinead Daly is attached to write the script for the series. Dusk.
According to THR, Daly is working with Lionsgate TV to determine what the series’ specific approach will be and whether it will be an adaptation of Meyer’s books or a different offshoot.
Feig is the former co-chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, while Godfrey and his Temple Hill production company produced all five films in the series. Dusk. Meyer is also expected to be involved in the potential series.
Originally, Meyer published four novels between 2005 and 2008: Dusk, New moon, Eclipse AND Sunrise. Subsequently, the author published the book Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, in 2015, which changed the genders of most of the characters in the story, including Bella and Edward; AND Midnight Sunreleased in 2020, which told the first book from Edward’s point of view rather than Bella’s.
The books have been adapted into films, resulting in a franchise known as The Twilight sagacomposed of five films released between 2008 and 2012. In all, the saga has grossed more than 3 billion dollars at the box office alone, centered around its protagonists, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
This is yet another example of another attempt to raise funds with a saga, moving from the film format to the TV series. Percy Jacksonby Rick Riordan, will win a television adaptation on Disney+, and Harry Potter will also be restarted in this format for streaming HBO, the Max.
The television series of Dusk it is still in its early stages and has not been tied down to one channel or platform. Lionsgate TV, which holds the rights to the franchise, plans to lead development on the project before offering the rights. There is no timetable yet for when the series will be offered to potential buyers.
