Alocine: What attracted you to the character of Manu when you embarked on the adventure? Such a big sun ?
Moise Santamaria: The fact that everything had to be done. I had a few lines to say about the character, but everything was up for grabs and discovery. I really liked his career. His social background, his maturity and his somewhat borderline side as well.
Manu has a lot of experience in Un si grand soleil. How do you rate your character development?
He learns life lessons. I would say that he is a person who listens to what is going on. He considers others, has the ability to question himself and move forward. I would just say this.
This is the much deeper Manu we see on screen now. Do you like digging into this weakness of your character?
absolutely ! After all, he is sensitive. In this arch, he shows more of his flaws. He is the Manu we have never seen before. He opens up to a shrink, someone he doesn’t know. It is a very intimate moment.
What’s going on with Eva (Emma Colbert) right now is pretty serious for her. He’ll have to learn to put all of that aside when he’s a man with a form of pride. We all have this form of pride in life. We don’t like to be seen as idiots, especially with our spouse. Forgiveness is not easy. between saying “I forgive you“And really, forgiveness is kind of hard. Manu is at this point. He’s distancing himself from Eve while he continues to work on himself by shrinking. We’ll see where it takes him. Will he forgive Eve? Will he get over this betrayal. ?
Manu has indeed recently put an end to his love affair with Eva. Although everything seems to be finally over, is it really over or is there still hope for them to get back together?
I’d say it’s over… but there’s always hope in life, right? . Hope is always there. There, of course, seems to be cooked, but to see.
The breakup scenes of Eva and Manu are very emotional. Was there a particular scene that was difficult to shoot?
No. I say no because it’s a difficult situation to live in, but it’s not a difficult game to make. On the other hand, it was necessary to be on the same wavelength and the same vibration as Emma Colbert. We had to find this carousel, that is, this question and answer, this game is one.
We had a dialogue with the directors to find a staging. We couldn’t be told”You stand there and do it“We had to find our places. We had to look for it. It was very interesting to look elsewhere. In our daily life, we don’t have much time for movies. quickly (laughs). We had a complicity in the game to find out. Of course, when you’re playing things of this order, it’s a little more difficult.
Anyway, the game wasn’t difficult. I love to play and especially when it’s intense. I cannot say that it is difficult, but it is interesting. It’s interesting and I like to put myself in a certain emotional state.
Manu soon returns to work and investigates the suspicious death of Aline Delclos. How will he react when he learns that Virgil (Fred Bianconi) and Eve are secretly investigating themselves?
Of course, Manu will be angry. Not so much because it’s still a lie, but because they’re going to take a risk, and Virgil is forcing Eve to take the risk. Manu will be especially angry with Virgil because he is his friend and he didn’t say anything. It’s not going to go the way they want, and it’s not going to be good.
Could Manu’s jealousy of Virgil be bubbling to the surface?
No. We are more on the friendship registry.
As you mentioned, Manu started therapy with a psychologist. In general, this type of approach is still taboo. Is it important to you that the audience sees Manu strip like that?
I think it’s pretty common, but it really depends on the socio-cultural environment one belongs to. Then you should be able to have a consultation, pay 70 or 80 euros for psychoanalysis. The people I know who are being consulted have no problem saying they are seeing contractions. I don’t know if it’s still a taboo topic or not. The taboo that needs to be removed, in my opinion, is cost. Everyone should be able to consult if they want.
But to answer your question, it’s really important for the audience to see Manu bare with the psychologist. It’s good that we can see her counseling. I was happy to take Manu into this field. That’s what I really liked because five years later it showed a different side of him. It is very interesting and enriches the character even more.
It was also important to show a very human police officer. I really wanted to show his flaws, that he is madly in love, that his father is a chicken, and that he can be weak at times. It’s all important. It just makes him human. I am convinced that we all have many aspects that make up our personality. Doing this through a character allows you to show people those aspects so they can recognize themselves more through him.
Recently, Manu was at the center of a very important scandal involving the rape of a young woman through pornography. How do you see this plot?
This is what the artistic direction presented to me. I was given the understanding that this was an important arc that showed the evolution of the character. I was very happy to deal with this issue and defend it. I put a lot of effort into this plot.
I know police officers who are in the Juvenile Squad or the Vice Squad. I went to visit them. Personally, I don’t know how they manage to separate it from the emotional work.
When I read this ark on the underground porn scene, I told myself it would be hard to be in Manu’s straight boots. It was a while, but after a while he got angry. I really enjoyed playing this arc because it covered some powerful stuff and dealt with an important issue.
Can Manu investigate Treson’s disappearance again or put himself on the trail of Christophe (Hubert Benhamdin)?
I don’t know if it will have to be investigated again. If that happened, it would probably follow Christophe’s footsteps and not smell bad (laughs).
Overall, what’s next for Manu in the rest of the series?
After the investigation of Aline’s death, we will see how the relationship between Eva and Manu will be established. It will take time, but maybe they will meet again, I don’t know. He’s also revamping the policing and we’re currently shooting the Ark, which isn’t bad.
Are there other things you want to protect through Manu?
Manu has more or less done it already and will do it again, but disobeying orders that are not in line with his morals. I have a lot of respect for police officers who disobey morally unacceptable orders.
Do you have any other projects besides Un si grand soleil that you can talk about?
Last summer, I directed I was born 17, a unitary for France Télévisions, adapted from Thierry Becarro’s book, which will be released this year. It is about childhood and child abuse. It’s directed by Julien Serre, and I play Thierry Beccaro’s father.
