From Marseilles to Brittany… Pauline Bresson, who lent her features to Emma in Plus belle la vie, plays one of the main roles in Ground Swell (discover our take on this fiction here), alongside Antoine Hamel and Eleanor Bernheim. In this TV movie, the young actor plays a lone cop who investigates a mysterious death that may be linked to a past drama involving his sister…
For AlloCiné, the actor recalls this project and his experience in the France 3 series. Lame de fond will be broadcast this Saturday, April 22, from 21:10 on France 2.
AlloCiné: What did you like about this project?Grundswell“?
Polina Bression: There are several factors. Now, my character is a police captain, he’s a bit of a link between all the plots. Then this role is not “small”, but the smallest, as I have often encountered before. This role gives me a new responsibility. It was a challenge that made me want to. Finally, the filming took place in an absolutely perfect setting in Brittany!
Tell us about Elisa, your character and her story…
He was transferred to Saint-Malo, opposite Dinard, where he grew up. He returns and has not returned to his previous life. Except for work, where he is fulfilled and calm, he has not seen friends, family members… gives a feeling of being alone.
Therefore, his investigation leads him to see people from his past, including his sister, a group of friends, and the townspeople. Little by little, because of family secrets and what the investigation reveals, we learn why he is sometimes introverted and angry.
Did you know your partners Eleanor Bernheim (The art of crime) or Antoine Hamel (an intern)?
Eleonora is very funny! We didn’t know each other at all and it went very well. The same Antony. We had never met when La Stagiaire was filmed in Marseille… where I was living and shooting a lot with Plus belle la vie! Anyway, this person is a pleasure to work with.
Did this collaboration lead to guest appearances on The Art of Crime or The Apprentice?
(laughs) Of course. I was also offered The Art of Crime! I didn’t call Eleanor because I’m not, unfortunately… on the contrary, I would run there because it’s always nice to find people we like to play with.
Were there any special restrictions in Brittany during this shoot?
It may not show up on all fronts, but we are lucky with the weather! (laughs) Let’s say the real limitation, compared to Marseille for example, is that the weather is the same day in Brittany! Hats off to the tech teams… (laughs) It’s a real little challenge for them.
At the end of the shoot, we were at the beach and this time the weather was capricious! We were constantly twisting and cutting because of the rain that came and went. We ran to shelter in cars between takes, then came back. And we left in the cars, etc… It was a bit of a joke!
You played Emma for several seasons in “Plus belle la vie”. But you were absent from the grand finale of the series. For what ?
Sorry… I was preparing for a play and had very, very little availability. I gave this poor production two days, which unfortunately did not fit well into the work plan. They were lovely with me because they wanted me to be in this final… but it was hard to say no to a project that was going to be a big six-month adventure. My stomach and heart hurt, but it was just a schedule mismatch.
Emma and Baptiste had an “end” a little earlier…so to speak, we see her alone in the finale, and poor thing! (laughs) It’s a bit sad. The only day off I had, I made a round trip to Marseille to say goodbye to everyone. So it was really bad luck… I had a great start to my career with them.
If the series were to be reborn one day, somewhere, in one form or another, would you participate?
I can’t answer that question without seeing what that other form would be. I was afraid of disappointment and I was afraid of disappointment, because what we did, I believe.
And why not join another series?
That is not my goal now. But if I’m offered a guest appearance or a recurring character that’s really great and completely replaces Emma, we’ll see.
