Mitch Evans enters title fight of the season and closes the gap to leader Pascal Wehrlein
Round seven of the 2023 Formula E season took place this Saturday (22nd), with the first of two races this weekend taking place in Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport. And Jaguar Racing shone once again, winning the first one-two in its history in the category, with Mitch Evans taking championship wins for the second time in a row, followed by Sam Bird.
With this Saturday’s victory, Evans conquers the fourth position in the world championship and gets close to the leader Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche), positioning himself once and for all as one of the contenders for the title of the season.
Racing at home, Wehrlein had a decent race for a good period, entering the top-10 from the second half of the race after starting in 15th position. The German driver moved up to fifth position in the closing laps, but finished sixth and saw his gap at the top of the world standings narrow slightly over the new deputy leader, New Zealander Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing).
